Last weekend, the FYTTA players did a great job during the Table Tennis Sunshine State Games, held at Lakeland, FL. Florida’s Sunshine State Games are a program of the Florida Sports Foundation, the official sports promotion and development organization for the State of Florida. Felipe Shiwa and Pranav Anumulapally participated in two Table Tennis events and achieved one silver and two bronze medals. The results reflect their hard work in the training program over the last months coached by Jun Amon, and were special "Father's Day" gifts for the proud dads.

Felipe Shiwa, 12, ended the tournament with two medals after two events (U1450 and U950). After taking the Pembroke Pines YMCA 2010 Table Tennis Summer Classes, he quit his soccer practices, and in September he joined the FYTTA to train at P. Pines YMCA facility. About the games he said: "I'm pleased with my performance, but I aim to do better next time. Overall, the matches were hard and I lost the gold medal by 2 points. This was my third tournament outside my training place and it was a good and fun experience. " |

"I'm Pranav, 11 years old. I started playing Table Tennis a year ago. This is my first state level tournament. I played in 2 events. I won 3rd place in the event U950, a bronze medal. A tough competition. The U1450 event was harder. I am very thankful to my coach Jun, who trained me so much and my parents for their support. It was a great experience. I am expecting myself to do much better in my future tournaments." | | | |
